本文把专门用途汉语教学与专门用途英语教学进行对比,结合专门用途汉语教学的特点,对其发展脉络、研究现状、理论发展、存在问题进行了梳理。专门用途汉语教学起步略晚,产生初期理论体系不成熟、没有基本的研究体系。总体来看,专门用途汉语研究仍需进一步加强,特别是在以下几个方面有待拓展和深化:第一,在理论研究方面,借鉴专门用途英语理论结合汉语本身特点以及不同专业领域的语言特征,建立适合汉语特点的理论模式,加强对技巧和策略的研究,对不同专业的阅读材料进行分类研究,总结归纳出相应的学习技巧和策略。第二,在教材研究方面,讨论建立专门用途汉语教材研发的指导意见和编写框架,同时对通用汉语教材和专业知识教材进行分析,真正实现专门用途汉语教材内容的桥梁作用。第三,在教学研究方面,专门用途汉语教学研究应以应用语言学、通用汉语教学为基础,开展教学资源库和数据库建设,从而为专门用途汉语教学和教材建设提供支撑。第四,在师资队伍建设方面,注重对当前专门用途汉语教学师资现状的调查研究,对教师的教学方法、知识背景、教学开展情况进行调查分析,探索如何培养具有扎实的汉语专业能力同时又具有一定的专业知识能力的教师。专门用途汉语教学具有广阔的发展前景,但仍需加强对基础理论和教学实践进行深入研究,以建立具有汉语特色的理论体系。
Abstract:With the growing number of international students in China, teaching Chinese for Specific Purposes(CSP) has become ever more important. This paper examines the development, status, and gaps of CSP in comparison with those of English for Specific Purposes(ESP).CSP is still something new, with its definition, basic theory, and research methods derived from ESP. In its initial stage, CSP developed slowly, with limited achievements in theoretical research. Since 2005, the development of preparatory education for international students in China has led to rapid growth in CSP. This growth is evidenced by an increase in research literature, publication of CSP textbooks, and the implementation of standardized and scientifically assessed tests. To meet the increasing needs of teaching CSP, however, more efforts are needed, particularly in the areas of theoretical and applied research, the development of teaching resources, the construction of databases, and teacher training.To promote the development of CSP in international Chinese language education, we propose the following key areas: Firstly, in theoretical research, ESP theory can serve as a reference. It is essential to combine the linguistic features of the Chinese language and the language features specific to CSP. This includes in-depth analysis of register, rhetoric, and discourse. Additionally, big data could be employed to analyze learner motivation and develop a “needs analysis” model suitable for CSP learners. The study of skills and strategies specific to given fields should be strengthened, particularly by thematizing reading materials from different fields and identifying corresponding learning skills and strategies.Secondly, with regard to teaching materials, it is crucial to develop a guideline and framework for the compilation of CSP teaching materials. Analysis of language-centered teaching materials and content-centered materials should be conducted to bridge the gap in CSP. While there has been continuous publication of CSP teaching materials in recent years, overall, they lack scientific, systematic, and standardized approaches.Thirdly, CSP has a close connection with both applied linguistics and general Chinese language teaching. CSP research should be based on these two areas. Efforts should be made to construct a CSP teaching resource database, providing support for CSP teaching and textbook development.Lastly, research on CSP teacher development calls for attention. We need research results to know about the current status of CSP teachers, including their teaching methods, academic background, and professional development. To train teachers with professional competence in teaching Chinese language as well as knowledge and skills in specific fields is crucial to the successful development of CSP.
